Dear colleague:

What a lineup for 2009! I was in the studio for the taping of the third program—Foreigner (Led Zeppelin’s drummer sat in!)—and remembering back to how great that was puts a bounce in my step.  I can’t wait to see the rest of the programs. Soundstage 1600 includes B.B. King!

Here are the headliners for the winter segment: Seal, Billy Idol, B.B. King, Foreigner, Idina Menzel (with special guest Josh Groban and Ravi Coltrane), Counting Crows, with the final episode a TBA. Seven programs, Soundstage 1601-1607, comprise the winter 2009 release beginning January 8, 2009.  Six additional programs will roll out in late June 2009.

Soundstage has received widespread critical acclaim and featured such icons as Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt, Al Green, the Doobie Brothers, Harry Chapin, Dionne Warwick, the Temptations, the Dave Matthews Band, John Fogerty, Tom Petty and more.

Most of the 1600 series concerts are filmed in HD before small studio audiences, at WTTW’s Grainger Studio in Chicago.  The HD format is Dolby Surround 5.1 and the SD letterbox format is Dolby Stereo.

Soundstage
is produced by WTTW National Productions and HDReady.  Joe Thomas/HDReady is the producer/director and Nicolette Ferri is executive producer. Parke Richeson is executive-in-charge of production. The series is distributed by PBS and underwritten by MasterCard International, Sears and Samsung.  Local underwriting is permitted as long as the local underwriter is not a competitor of the national underwriters. The companion website is www.pbs.org/soundstage.

Please contact me if you have questions.  A fact sheet follows.

Very truly yours,
Regina
