Dear Colleague:

There’s an excitement that is palpable in today’s India and series host Simone Ahuja brings it to the television screen in her sensory montage— INDIQUE: Untold Stories of Contemporary India. Capturing India’s passion and secrets, there could be no better guide for the hours than Indian American Simone Ahuja who inhabits both worlds comfortably and finds a variety of appealing untold stories that provide glimpses into this rapidly evolving country.  Whether viewers are visiting ancient caves with perfectly preserved art or the trendiest, ultramodern fashion runways, or meeting India’s intelligentsia or illiterate and award-winning purveyors of lunches, audiences will be impressed with Simone’s charming personal interactions and witness the enormous drive, passion for life, appreciation of hard work, sense of humor, creativity and sagacity that characterize many of India’s peoples.

Indique weaves together travel, history, lifestyle, human interest, business, and interviews to introduce American audiences to sights and sounds in present-day India that may surprise many viewers. We join Simone Ahuja to watch snake boating races in India’s “Venice of the East,” to learn what, after all, Ayurveda and Bollywood are, trying her hand at the art of rope making, and in engaging conversations with urbanites and villagers alike. With her insider's perspective into the cultural, social, and economic evolution of India, Ahuja captures new images that have been virtually unseen in the West and enables us to feel the pulse of 21st Century India.
