WTTW is proud to announce the PBS/NPS premiere of Soundstage:
1501-1513, the ground-breaking primetime HD concert series on PBS
beginning January 10th,
2008. Featuring such rock
greats as Tom Petty and John Fogerty, the hour-long HD music performances with cutting-edge
surround sound, offer viewers the experience of 10th row seating
before an arena show. Seven programs, Soundstage
1501-1507, kick off the winter 2008 release starting on January 10th;
six programs, Soundstage 1508-1513,make up the summer 2008 lineup that
includes Bon Jovi. Look for its rollout
in June 2008.
After its impressive run from 1974-1985, Soundstage,
returned to PBS in, 2003. In its first
incarnation,Soundstage received widespread critical acclaim and featured
the artists that defined the era, including Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie
Raitt, Al Green, the Doobie Brothers, Harry Chapin, Dionne Warwick, the
Temptations, and Kenny Loggins, among others.
Since the show has been reintroduced, performers have
included the Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Joss Stone, Wilco, Sonic Youth,
the All American Rejects, KT Tunstall, Train, Alison Krauss, Alanis Morissette,
and more. 2008 promises to keep
viewers rocking as they hear classics and what’s new in the world of rock and
music.
The majority of the concerts are filmed before small studio
audiences, at WTTW’s Grainger Studio in Chicago. Here is the winter lineup:
Soundstage: 1501 - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: Live from Gatorville, Pt. 1 Catch Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in this special
two-part Soundstage performance as
they return to Gainesville, where it all started, to play their first hometown
show in 13 years. They perform their classics "Free Fallin',"
"Last Dance with Mary Jane" and "I Won't Back Down,” and just
when you think it can't get any better, heartbreaker Stevie Nicks joins Petty
on stage for a duet of "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around." Other highlights include “Listen to Your
Heart” and the Traveling Wilbury’s classic “Handle With Care.”

Soundstage: 1502 - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: Live from Gatorville, Pt. 2 For everyone—Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and fans
alike—Live from Gatorville is an
electrifying evening. The band performs songs spanning three-decades, such as their
rarely played gems and songs from Petty's recent solo album, Highway Companion. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are just
getting warmed up at the beginning of the second hour as the volley of hits
keep coming, with “Don’t Come Around Here No More,” “Running Down a Dream” and
“You Wreck Me.” They are joined once again by legendary Stevie Nicks, for
several songs that include "Learning to Fly," and the concert closer
"American Girl."

Soundstage: 1503 - Lifehouse Chart topping is a given for pop-rock band Lifehouse.
Best known for their top singles “Hanging by a Moment,” and ballad “You and
Me,” which spent a record 60 weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart, Lifehouse next
returns to the basics with Who We Are.
Jason Wade’s lyrics address a wide range of diverse themes that resonate with
audiences while they rock to the melodies. Lifehouse’s performance also includes Who We Are’s twangy lead single “First
Time.”

Soundstage: 1506 – Matchbox 20 Named “Best New Band” in a Rolling Stone 1997 reader’s poll, Matchbox Twenty has garnered five
Grammy nominations and three American Music Award nominations, while Rob Thomas
has earned three Grammy Awards, 11 BMI Awards, and has been twice named Billboard’s Songwriter of the Year.

WTTW has some exciting news regarding underwriting. Soundstage
has just signed MasterCard as a national underwriter for the next five years! Together Soundstage
and MasterCard are bringing viewers truly “priceless” musical experiences and Soundstage is now talking to such
luminaries as Lenny Kravitz, Earth Wind and Fire, Coldplay, Kenny Chesney,
Bonnie Raitt, The Cure, The Fray for future programs. MasterCard’s plans
include considerable promotion for the series in TV print, and online. Soundstage
is part of MasterCard’s summer music campaign and sizeable media buy, which will
culminate with a truly spectacular musical event. WTTW will be making tickets available to
stations for this special event. In
addition, MasterCard intends to make local ad buys in many markets.
